ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW 

HealthRight International is a global health and human rights organization working to build lasting access to health for excluded communities. We work closely with communities and establish local partnerships to deliver health services.  At the same time, we provide training and equipment and improve systems to enable our partners to deliver services on their own.  Our goal is to create lasting change that supports access to health while strengthening human rights.

OUTLINE OF ROLE
Working closely with the Vice President, Development and the Executive Director, the Major Gift Officer will identify, cultivate and solicit high net worth individuals on behalf of HealthRight International through ongoing one-on-one contact, including in-person meetings. The Major Gift Officer will design and implement events (including cultivation, briefing, and fundraising events) and individual donor campaigns.  The Major Gift Officer will be responsible for personally cultivating and soliciting donors who are capable of supporting HealthRight at the level of $5,000 and above, maintaining a donor portfolio of 150-175 major donors and prospects. The Major Gift Officer will be responsible for a revenue goal of approximately $500,000 - $1 million.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The Major Gift Officer will be designing and implementing integrated strategy for a highly personalized relationship management of a portfolio of approximately 150-175 major donors, in order to promote increased financial support through deeper engagement with HealthRight. S/He will establish and meet annual revenue goal and goals for personal contact with donors, with a strong emphasis on face-to-face meetings but also including phone, e-mail, and other written contact.  Also to develop highly personalized donor communications including proposals, stewardship reports, general program updates, etc.

The Major Gift Officer also will be responsible for establishing several fundraising events throughout the year, ranging from small scale cultivation events to the Annual Health & Human Rights Awards Dinner.
Other duties will include research/data & information management and Board of Directors development.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Three to five years of Major Gifts or related professional fundraising/relationship management experience, preferably with a similar organization, is ideal.
  • Must have superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights, public health, humanitarian relief, and/or international development, strongly desired.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment. 
  • Adept at Excel, MS Office, PowerPoint; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required plus additional relevant graduate courses or professional training an advantage.
  • Requires ability to lift and transport materials, file documents, work at keyboard for extended periods.
