Project Director - HIV Testing, Prevention, and Care Services for At-risk Girls and Women in Ukraine (open to Ukrainian nationals only)
HealthRight International seeks a Project Director based in Kyiv for the two-year “HIV Testing, Prevention, and Care Services for At-risk Girls and Women in Ukraine Project.”
In January 2010 HealthRight International will launch the “HIV Testing, Prevention, and Care Services for At-risk Girls and Women in Ukraine Project” aimed to build Ukrainian systems, capacity, and commitment to improve access to vital social, medical, and legal services for girls and young women vulnerable to HIV. Through this project HealthRight plans to achieve the following goals: 1) establish a comprehensive system of support for girls/young women who are vulnerable to HIV through the creation of a Service Center for Women and Girls (in partnership with Kyiv City Center for Social Services); and 2) to build the capacity of existing state and non-governmental service providers in this methodology by implementing a training program based on HealthRight’s methodology of work with girls/young women vulnerable to HIV. HealthRight will also advocate for improved access to vital medical and social services in the city of Kyiv, as well as to ensure the sustainability of this comprehensive support system developed for girls/young women vulnerable to HIV.
Responsibilities include overall projects management; recruitment and supervision of the project team in Kyiv; establishment of a new project referral network with local and national partners; new project planning, monitoring and reporting; project fiscal and budgetary oversight; outreach; training and capacity building; case management; and other activities to fulfil project objectives. This individual will also contribute to aspects of other HealthRight projects focused on street youth in Ukraine. The Project Director will report to the HealthRight Country Director in Ukraine; professional growth opportunities within HealthRight in Ukraine exist after proven experience of successful project implementation.
Requirements:
• 4+ years of experience working in international organizations in the area of HIV, marginalized populations, and women’s issues.
• Strong leadership, project management, and staff supervision skills, ideally in an international development setting, to include: program launching, work planning and team management on the operational level, program assessment, evaluation and monitoring with an especially strong understanding of research, policy analysis and advocacy, budget management, and program reporting.
• Experience building partnerships at the local and national levels, relationship management skills, negotiation skills, tact, and diplomacy.
• Strong organizational and reporting skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong writing skills and experience writing proposals to donors.
• Familiarity with international donor requirements and I-NGO standards.
• Self-directed, team player, responsible, hardworking with good communication skills.
• A relevant post-graduate qualification (social work, public health or policy, psychology preferred).
• Excellent Ukrainian and English language skills.
• Advanced computer/IT skills.
• Ukrainian national.
