Grace Lokarkar is a patient at one of the AIDS outreach clinics HealthRight has established to serve communities in the isolated Northern Rift Valley of Kenya. She is also the manager of our agricultural demonstration site in the town of Sigor, where she teaches patients at the clinic better farming techniques, and helps grow food to provide a bumper crop to make sure people being treated for HIV have adequate food supplies.

"Hoai Anh" is 3 years old and lives with his family in Hanoi, Vietnam. Like many families affected by HIV in Vietnam, Hoai Anh's family faces many challenges in accessing care in living a healthy life - including pervasive stigma and discrimination from within the community. With local partners, HealthRight is working to build last access to care for families, and to combat discrimination.

Street youth in Russia face some of the highest rates for HIV-infection in the world. A recent study conducted by HealthRight International and its partners revealed that nearly 40% of the 10,000 youth living in St. Petersburg are living with the virus. HealthRight has responded with a comprehensive effort to give street youth access to HIV prevention and treatment services, including an innovative series of workshops designed to prevent new infections.

The abandonment of children born to HIV-positive mothers is a disturbing yet increasing trend in Russia and Ukraine. The region faces one of the fastest growing HIV epidemics in the world, and women of reproductive age represent a growing proportion of those diagnosed with HIV.
